We connect institutional donation capital with high-impact non-profit organisations worldwide — reliably and transparently.
We support a broad spectrum of charitable purposes, including education, democracy and civic engagement, gender equality, and international understanding. Our goal is to direct funds where they can have the greatest impact — including abroad.
Recipient organisations are selected based on recommendations from independent research institutes such as Power for Democracies and GiveWell.
We are a recognised grant-making body and do not run our own projects. We accept contributions from institutional donors — donation platforms, foundations, family offices, and companies. Private donations reach us in bundled form via partner platforms such as effektiv-spenden.org or betterplace.org.
Funds are disbursed exclusively to tax-exempt organisations, foreign equivalents, or public-law entities. Each recipient is carefully vetted for charitable status. Foreign organisations must submit detailed annual use-of-funds reports. In the event of violations, payments are stopped immediately and disbursed amounts are reclaimed.
For institutional donors wishing to deploy funds for charitable purposes outside Germany, we absorb or reduce the administrative and legal complexity of international giving — provided our overhead remains proportionate to the donation volume.
Michael Tuchen
Managing Director
Michael Tuchen has been active in leadership roles and as an advisor to non-profit organisations since 2007. As a former board member and long-standing shareholder of betterplace.org, he has first-hand knowledge of the interfaces between institutional donors, donation platforms, and grant recipients — experience that directly informs the work of Common Good Fund Germany.
A grant-making body (§ 58 No. 1 German Tax Code) does not run its own projects, but raises funds and passes them on to other tax-exempt organisations. Our core competence lies not in project implementation, but in legally compliant grant disbursement abroad.
Processing individual contributions in a legally compliant manner generates administrative costs that are disproportionate to small amounts for our organisation. Private individuals wishing to support the global common good are referred to effektiv-spenden.org, an active partner in the field of democracy.
We disburse funds exclusively to tax-exempt organisations or foreign equivalents. Foreign recipients are contractually obligated to submit detailed annual accountability reports. In the event of non-compliant use, payments are stopped immediately and disbursed amounts are reclaimed.
No. Common Good Fund Germany does not accept funding applications. Recipients are selected based on recommendations from independent research institutes — such as Power for Democracies — that produce in-depth impact analyses. There is no legal entitlement to funding.
Please feel free to reach out if you have questions about Common Good Fund Germany. Please note: due to our lean structure, we are unable to provide direct advisory services to private individuals.
